Pastor Greg Pointer is the founder of Freedom Church which was started in 2003. He brings 4 years of Military experience and 10 years of corporate experience; to include 3 years as a manager of Good Year Tire and Rubber Company and 7 years in the auto industry as a Finance and Sales Manager.
Pastor Greg was licensed to minister on August 16th, 1996 and was ordained an Elder in 2000. Since that time, he has served in various capacities from Sunday School and discipleship, to Assistant Pastor.
Pastor Greg’s commitment and passion for the discipleship of God’s people was developed while he served 3 years under Pastor George Sawyer of Calvary Assembly in Decatur, Alabama from 1997 to 2000. During this time he was appointed as one of the discipleship instructors and started a discipleship program that met weekly.
Beginning in November of 2000, Pastor Greg served as an assistant pastor in Southern Pines, North Carolina. He served there until he was released to start Freedom, in June of 2003. Pastor Greg started the ministry with a Wednesday night Bible study in August of 2003 and the ministry went public in October of the same year.
Pastor Greg is leading Freedom to be a model ministry of the Kingdom of God. He is bringing Freedom outside of the four walls through the development of City Alive, a 501(c)(3) organization designed to promote initiatives that support the mission to embrace communities by creating opportunities, and partnering with the Department of Social Services as a resource to help in meeting the needs of the community. Through the food and clothing ministries of City Alive, those who are hungry will be fed and those who are naked will be clothed.
Pastor Greg is devoted to making sure that Freedom is not just a name, but an experience. Freedom is an experience that will not only allow those connected to encounter the love of God, but also experience the liberty to become all God has ordained them to be.
Pastor Greg is proud to have his lovely wife, Hope; two daughters, Tasia and Maya; and grandson, “Little J” in his life, as he helps lead the Body of Christ into our destiny.
